Scandalous Fancy Dress

Have I got a great fancy dress theme for you today. Scandals – bet you have not attended a Scandalous Fancy dress party before? If you have, let me know, I would love to know what you dressed up as.

If you were to receive an invite for a costume party with a ‘Scandals’ theme, I am sure that you would probably think ‘what on earth should I go as?’. I have written a Scandals Costume Ideas & information page that should give you some ideas and inspiration to start thinking of some other costume ideas.

Once you start thinking, this theme is very exciting and gives a broad range of potential costumes to cover all budgets and sizes of your guests. In fact, my next fancy dress party is going to be a ‘Scandalous one’ as I have enjoyed researching it so much.

Back in time, could be the theme for today, as the chimes of Big Ben first rang during the Victorian era on this day in 1859. Victorian is a theme that is quite popular and our range includes a lovely Southern Belle costume. July 10, is also the 70th anniversary of the date when the German Luftwaffe first launched its attack over UK skies in the Battle of Britain. So if you don’t want a time theme why not go for a British one? After all, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are one of the most recognised symbols of Britain, along with red buses and telephone boxes, the black taxi cab, the mini, and the Union Jack (or the individual nation flags).

Not the easiest of themes to find costumes for, to be honest, you will need to use your imagination – you could think of famous Brits over the years. We stock a great range of famous people masks that include Prince Charles, Queen, Camilla, Elton John, Del Boy & Rodney masks to name just a few

The inventor of Lego, Godtfred Kirk Christinsen was born this day in 1920. He died shortly after his 75th birthday on July 13, 1995. Originally made from wood, the Lego building-block system has become one of the most successful toys of all time: Early Lego sets and pieces fetch a high price on the open market, James May (of ‘Top Gear’) built a fully functioning house out of it last year and because of the modern additions of Lego people and specialist sets to the range, YouTube is full of remakes (and additional episodes) of popular films and TV series using Lego characters.

Another set of popular toys are soon to be seen again as Woody the Cowboy, Buzz Lightyear and the Toy Story cast return (along with fourteen other new toy characters) for Toy Story 3, released in the US in June and in cinemas here in the UK, from July 23rd.

Why not have a fancy dress theme based on kids toys? You could expand it out to book characters as we argue that a book is a chlds toy in a roundabout way. This brings in all sorts of characters including Toy Story Costumes (as above), Action Man, Barbie & Ken costumes andy Pandy, Rag dolls, Snow White the list really goes on and on.
