28th June 2010

Money makes the world go round and June 29th proves to be an interesting day for commemorating advances in the field of finance. Although we have something of an ongoing USA theme going in the run-up to July 4th, the fact that the Americans came up with the idea of building Fort Knox to put their gold reserves in on June 28th 1935 is so yesterday, and today we celebrate the introduction of the first UK credit card –Barclaycard in 1966. It was also on this day in 1855, that The Sun newspaper of the time, printed its front page in gold ink, in celebration of Queen Victoria’s coronation. Over subsequent days it reprinted several editions of the same paper.
So Gold and Money can be the Themes of the day and a visit to Props n Frocks can pay you handsomely in terms of the costume and accessory riches available!

Some examples of costumes or accessories could be:
* Gamblers Costume – we stock gamblers visors. You could also use a western outfit and go as a Western Gambler
* Gold – wear a gold masquerade mask with a gold evening dress.
