Let’s celebrate Chinese New Year with a fancy dress party…
Yesterday we were discussing animal costumes and today marks the start of the Chinese Year of the Rabbit. Now, if we were to continue with our Movies theme, rabbit costumes might be a bit limiting (most of the requests we get, tend to be around Easter and of course we do have some superb rabbit costumes). Here’s a little quiz, how many films featuring rabbits can you name? Well, there’s the 1978 film entitled Watership Down? Or, if that’s too far back in time, what about the cult 2001 film Donnie Darko? Then of course there is always the classic Thumper from Bambi and the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
Given it is the Chinese New Year, you do not have to restrict yourself to the Year of the Rabbit, why not think about other Chinese Zodiac characters, or we do have an excellent range of oriental style outfits.
You may also want to broaden the theme out to include everything Chinese, which then allows your guests to wear traditional Chinese costumes, or just some Chinese accessories including Coolie hats, moustaches and wigs. We stock a large range of animal overhead masks and animal face bops that will help you to become a Chinese New Year Animal.
Chinese New Year animals include:
- Rat
- Ox
- Tiger
- Rabbit
- Dragon
- Snake
- Horse
- Sheep
- Monkey
- Rooster
- Dog
- Pig
Red and gold are the main theme colours when it comes to the Chinese New Year.
Talking of red, today also marks the launch of Red Nose Day 2011, which this year is on Friday March 18th. Are you thinking of dressing up (or is it down?) then keep checking our site for some fantastic ideas for costumes and accessories.
