Earlier in the week we were noting the anniversary of Liam Neeson and today we celebrate the birthday of Johnny Depp, born in 1963, an actor whose character-creations have been hugely popular when it comes to costume requests A genuine chameleon-type actor –he did actually voice-over a chameleon/lizard in the animated Western epic ‘Rango’ – he has been seen most recently as a vampire in ‘Dark Shadows’ and, as we noted last year, although the project was stalled for a while, he is also playing the Indian scout Tonto in the remake of ‘The Lone Ranger’. We are not sure about the ‘dead-crow’ head-dress seen in some early publicity shots, but as we know, the actor always likes to put an unconventional spin on a character. In the meantime his ‘back catalogue’ of notable creations from Edward Scissorhands to Willie Wonka and Captain Jack Sparrow to The Mad Hatter are, as we said, incredibly popular – so much so that there are even female versions of these characters available from some suppliers.
