A special day for a certain section of the population who have a particular distinction (and, they would say, superiority). It’s Left-Handers Day upon which those who have a dominant left appendage, so to speak, can celebrate. Of course historically the left-handed have been regarded with suspicion – the Latin for left is sinistra, from which the word sinister derives, whilst the word for Right, dexter, evolved into dextrous as an adjective for those adept or clever in a particular way. Such prejudices are now, for the most part, forgotten and, as we said, being left-handed is now no longer a big issue. So how do we suggest you celebrate the day through the medium of costume? Well, although there are one or two hand-based costumes on the market (one of them involves a peace sign and another is derived from King Kong with Ann Darrow wrapped in a gorilla hand!),
