It’s Left-Handers Day upon which those who have a dominant left appendage, so to speak, can celebrate. Of course historically the left-handed have been regarded with suspicion – the Latin for left is sinistra, from which the word sinister derives, whilst the word for Right, dexter, evolved into dextrous as an adjective for those adept or clever in a particular way. Such prejudices are now, for the most part, forgotten and, as we said, being left-handed is now no longer a big issue. So how do we suggest you celebrate the day through the medium of costume?
