- Schoolgirl
- School Boy – easy costumes to put together, we stock some budget schoolboy kits, school ties caps and boaters.
- Head Teacher, just purchase one of our Teacher gown‘s, mortar board (hat) and a cane
- School Nurse – wear a matronly style of nurse costume
- PE Teacher – wear a tracksuit, or other sporting attire
- Janitor – wear a white Doctor’s coat, or overalls, carrying a mop and wear a cap
- Dinner Lady – wear an old fashioned cross-over apron, headscarf & rollers
- Cheerleader – who says it has to be British school?
- School Play – what role did you do? Now is the time to re-live this humiliation!
- Team Player – where you in the school team, why not dress up in that?
Today would have been the birthday of cartoonist Ronald Searle, who unfortunately died at the end of last year. Despite being a recipient of the Reuben Cartoonist Award in the company of other Greats such as Charles Schultz (Peanuts) and Gary Larson (The Far Side), Searle’s best-known legacy is, to his apparent regret, St Trinian’s. His cartoons of this fictitious school and its anarchic female occupants (staff and students alike) caught the public imagination, and inspired several classic comedy films. More recently, there have been a further two ‘updated’ St Trinian movies (and even some ‘official costumes’) but even without the new versions, which have tended to pander to the sexy-schoolgirl image (which owes more to ‘Britney’ than vintage Searle anyway), the schoolgirl look continues to be a popular generic costume request, particularly with school discos.
