Today, we have a ‘Dedicated Followers Of Fashion’ as our fancy dress theme. Obviously dressing-up in costume is at the heart of our business, but today sees the start of one of the must-go events for those who like clothes, fashion and all related topics – Clothes Show Live. Having spent a little time in the Midlands at the NEC, the show is now at Earls Court, West London from today until the 26^th. Whilst the main point of the show is to find out what’s hot and happening in the fashion world, a good number of Bright Young Things will be going along in the hope that they’ll get ‘scouted’ by some model agency or other. Some may be lucky, most will be disappointed. In the meantime we thought today might be a good time to celebrate the Dedicated Followers of Fashion through the Ages, no matter how weird or wacky.

So what is fashion today, may become ‘the’ fancy dress look in 20 years time. Let’s look back at certain decades that have certainly had ‘head turning’ effects.

• 1920s – the 1st time ladies cut their hair and wore their dresses at knee length. We stock a lovely selection of ladies 20s flapper costumes
• 1940s – rationing limited what material was available to wear, a classic case of make do and mend. Uniforms were often the only serviceable clothing that could be worn to look smart in.

• 1960s – A  phenomenal fashion era. Flower power, hippys, mods, rockers & punk – we have a great selection of punk outfits and accessories
• 1970s – The birth of Glam Rock – all glitz, jumpsuits and platform shoes – and that’s only the men!
• 1980s – New Romantics, neon,  lace and big hair – our range of 80s costumes is growing monthly.
