Today, we suggest a ‘Fictional Detectives’ Fancy Dress theme as in 1918 and in Brooklyn, New York a 
crime writer is being born. He is Frank Morrison Spillane and he become known as Mickey Spillane, creator of Michael ‘Mike’ Hammer, a gritty private detective who made his first appearance in the book ‘I, The Jury’ in 1947. Hammer’s trademark is contempt for the processes of Law, and pursuit of justice by his own rules. He featured in many other books and, like many other detectives, has been portrayed on the TV and movie screen numerous times. Many feel he was a role model for ‘Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry character!
Anyway, we thought today would be a good time to celebrate detectives of fiction from Sherlock Holmes, through to Hercule Poirot, to Tintin and the Mystery Machine gang, featuring Scooby-Doo!
