Today, we propose a Garden Theme Costume party. After the unusual weather of the last few months – a very cold winter, a dry April and general shortage of rain, the Chelsea Flower
Show starts today and runs until May 28th. Even if you have not had the urge (or the wherewithal) to attend this event, there is usually sufficient press coverage and promotion for people to be aware of its existence.
When it comes down to it, the Flower Show is rather like a costume party-cum-masquerade-ball for gardens, in which dedicated experts put together creations, only designed to last for a short period of time, with a view to winning some prizes. Occasionally there is some cross-over when we, or other costumiers, are asked to supply outfits, props or accessories to help complement the required effect at such events. We are also now entering the garden party season, and even if your garden does not get invited to parties that much, it’s time to prepare for al fresco entertainment opportunities (whilst keeping a Plan B in mind in the event of wet weather!)
