Today we look at Goodies as our costume theme, and we do not mean Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graham Garden &
Bill Oddie – if you are saying ‘who’ then you are actually much younger than me!
There are conflicting dates when Mother T(h)eresa was born. Some sources say the 26th August, whilst others say the 27th. Whichever date it was, we thought she deserved a mention. She was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910 and having founded the Missionaries of Charity in India, she spent much of her life as a Catholic Nun working with the sick and dying, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She died aged 87 in 1997, the same week as Diana, Princess of Wales. In this day and age, the good and charitable works that some people undertake throughout their lives can often be overlooked in the press, in favour of sensationalism and tragedy. So we thought today we would focus on the positive side of life, and instead of the standard goodies and baddies or saints and sinners fancy dress themes that we regularly get here at propsnfrocks, we thought we would just concentrate on those philanthropists and doers of good deeds throughout history.
