Kids Curriculum School Costumes

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Today’s  post is all about childrens school costumes as the ‘little darlings’  will soon be going back toRoman Costumes Children school…

In England, tomorrow sees the final bank holiday before Christmas. We’d like to know what happened to the proposal for having one in October?  Personally, we think a Halloween bank holiday would be great – although the problem with that idea is we would have to open the shop on a bank holiday – so perhaps not such a good idea for us!

With many children and teachers going back to school during the next week, we thought we would give you a run-down of the types of school events where costumes may be required and how we can help here at PNF.  As parents, the most likely first request you may get of the school year, could be for costumes for National Book Week, which in 2011 supposedly runs from October 3rd – 9th. In practice it could be any time during October (and sometimes November), depending when it slots neatly into an individual school’s curriculum. We have already written a great information page that covers Childrens Book Character costume ideas, so why not take a look at it? It should give you all the inspiration that you need.

Then there are the various school historical dress-up days. This normally includes: Romans, Tudors,Childrens Book Character Fancy Dress Elizabethan (although Elizabeth I was a Tudor, there is a particular look to the Elizabethan era, which was not prevalent for the previous Tudor monarchs) & Victorians. Other less frequent requests can be Aztecs, Incas, Egyptians, Vikings, Normans, Medieval, Edwardian and 1940s.

We have not yet found many schools wanting costumes for the Georgian period – which is probably just as well, as most children’s costume manufacturers do not cater for this era. If you require further information and help, here at propsnfrocks we have a range of information sheets full of costume ideas for historical dress up days at school and we offer ones for School Book Days & Book Weeks; Children’s Costumes and Historical Costumes – School Curriculum.

However, before we go, we must also make you aware that all of Props n frocks children’s costumes are fully up to the current legislation that covers kids fancy dress costumes. If you want to know more about kids fancy dress & the law, take a look at this information page.
