Today we think that an Uniform Costume theme is ideal to celebrate the fact that the film Coriolanus had its premiere on Thursday
January 5th and goes on general release today. Given the title and the original author (William Shakespeare) one might assume that this is set in Roman times, but as with a lot of things in life, nothing is quite as it seems. The screenplay has been written by John Logan, who wrote Gladiator and The Last Samurai and is the first film directed by Ralph Fiennes (who also stars Coriolanus). Given that this is a contemporary take on the story, there may be a limit to the types of costumes you can find at props n frocks. We do have some army clothing, although some of this relates to the 1940s which continues to be a popular theme for us. If looking to recreate the original Coriolanus, we do have plenty of Roman outfits for both males and females. Alternatively, a uniforms or professions party could broaden out the theme and we all love a man in uniform! Naturally, female uniforms are also available.
Here are some of our Uniform Fancy Dress Ideas:
- Doctors & Nurses Costumes
- Pilot & Air Hostess – we have these in our hire costumes only
- Chef – just add a chef’s hat for an easy costume suggestion
- Fireman – only available in our hire costumes
- 1940s Army Costumes – we also have a large range in our hire stock
- Ladies Sexy Army Costumes
- French Maid Outfits
- Naval Officer – we stock white ‘Officer & a Gentleman’ style costumes, as well as Captain’s hats, doughboy hats and sailor outfits
Another easy costume to put together is a Chauffeur, just wear a suit and purchase one of our chauffeur hats, but you could also think about a Gladiator’s costume, as this is really their ‘uniform’, or a Gangster suit for a mobster.
