Elf Costumes

In our last exciting episode we talked of those who seek to add a little magic to Christmas

by impersonating the Main Man and we can help with a full range of Santa costumes, but Father Christmas does need some help to make all those presents, so we really must give a mention to the elves. We stock a wide range of Elf costumes, from kids fleece costumes, unisex adult elf outfits right up to ladies sexy elf costumes. And if you don’t fancy wearing an entire elf costume, why not wear some of our elf accessories such as ears, hats, tights and shoes?

Whilst we applaud the efforts of all those taking on this role, the real heroes are those who take it upon themselves to help out Santa by acting on his behalf in public and put themselves at the mercy of the Inquisition (Junior Branch). If seasoned professionals can be flummoxed by the ingenuity of questioning, what chance does a stand-in amateur have? You can think you have anticipated all the usual questions – What happens if I live in a flat/haven’t a chimney/have a dog who might object to the reindeer invading their patch? – but you then have the deep-thinking ones who wish to hand over their holiday itinerary so that they don’t miss out, or who want to discuss the tech-specs of the sleigh (‘Is there back-up lighting if Rudolph is ill?). There are also the little darlings who want to test the Santa beard for authenticity or who cry (or worse) at the emotional pressure of the occasion. Santa impersonators, we salute you.

Christmas Costumes – The next big thing!

The start of another month and less than eight weeks to go before the big day. (No, we are not talking the January sales, which seem to start earlier each year – when did January arrive in mid-December?). Naturally, we are talking of Christmas. This is a time of year when people up and down the country will be gathering together to celebrate the birth of Christ (some with more fervour than others), open presents and sit down for a special dinner, with family and friends. But before that day there are certain seasonal rituals which will be taking place. Firstly, there is the school seasonal performance. At one stage, this was the nativity play, but nowadays to include our multi-ethnic society, this has broadened out to an end-of-year performance, where adoring parents can dutifully turn up and hope that their child will do what they are supposed to, and won’t prove to be an embarrassment. Props & Frocks stocks everything you could need for your school Christmas play, from traditional Nativity Costumes to animal masks and all other kids costumes

Then there is the Christmas party. Because of difficult trading conditions in recent years, many businesses have eschewed the Christmas party in favour of staff bonuses or at least people retaining their jobs (an alternative is to hold the ‘Christmas event’ in January, when venues are cheaper and people have fewer social engagements). It is difficult to know how this will play out this year. We know some have already booked their Christmas party, and even started contemplating what they are going to wear. As far as we are concerned, it is never too early to plan ahead (even if your ‘Christmas’ is in January) and we are here to help. With delivery times extended the nearer we get to Christmas, it is always a good idea to start thinking about your Christmas costumes as early as possible

30th June 2010

June 30th and not only are we half-way through the week, we’re half-way through the year – less than six months to Christmas! Today’s the day for daring (or daft) deeds, as in 1859 the great tightrope walker Blondin performed a walk above the Niagara Falls, on his high-wire. Not content with just one journey, he then returned to the middle of the wire and set up a camera and tripod (not quite sure how sure that worked) so as to take pictures of the assembled crowds, amongst which there were several reported faintings. Slightly less stunning was the achievement of Spike Milligan who on this day in 1956 eventually got into the music charts with his single ‘I’m Walking Backwards For Christmas’ – obviously took a little longer to do it than he’d thought!.

So why not have a Christmas themed party today? We have a huge selection of Christmas costumes & accessories for all the family. Just think of all the fun you can have!
