Santa Costume
You ‘red’ it here first (or not).
A couple of years ago in ‘groundbreaking research’, graduates at the University of Rochester, New York, conducted a survey concluding that men were attracted to women in red. (They could have noted the success of Chris de Burgh’s song and Gene Wilder’s pursuit of Kelly LeBrock in ‘The Woman in Red’ and saved themselves some trouble). To even the balance, in a survey this year the same university, writing in the ‘Journal of Experimental Psychology’ no less, has now concluded that women are attracted to men wearing red-based colours. Apparently this is something to do with red signifying rank and status (the earlier study about red-wearing females gave a different basis, needless to say). So at last we see that the Devil not only has all the best tunes, he’s also cornered the market when it comes to the correct colours on the style shade card, and we have the secret of why the modern Santa Claus continues to have a such a wide following after the excuse of a toy-dispensing benefactor has gone.
So we thought, why not have a fancy dress party based on the colour red? This will give your guests the chance to wear a broad range of costumes, including a good ol’ Santa Claus outfit, as we have already mentioned. Other costumes that spring to mind include our Mr & Mrs. Incredible costumes and of course, a Devil ‘costume, but really the list is endless. By having a ‘red’ theme, your guests could also wear a red masquerade eyemask or even a red wig
