Werewolf Halloween Costume
Vampire & werewolf fancy dress is going to be very popular this year, mainly due to the amount of films & television series that are currently popular featuring these creatures of the night, but more on that in the blog…
In a previous blog we mentioned the new theory that Dracula’s origins may have been Irish. Whilst we’re used to stories like this around Halloween to help set the mood, the Vampire community seem to be going for high profile all year-round: For creatures who supposedly shun the light, they sure do court the glare of the publicity spotlight. For a start there’s the highly popular Twilight film series, featuring the exploits of Bella Swan, her vampiric lover and other creatures of the night. Then there’s the TV series True Blood, the everyday story of southern American folk with vampires living amongst them who drink a blood substitute to (usually) avoid any awkward incidents. Finally there’s the other TV series, The Vampire Diaries – a fairly self-explanatory title.
There are also variations, such as the BBC Three series ‘Being Human’, featuring a vampire, ghost and werewolf in a ‘ménage à trois. So we were wondering whether the vampire thing has been rather done to death (we were also wondering how vampires shave if they’re invisible to mirrors, but that’s another matter). Fantasy author Neil Gaiman (he’s co-written with Terry Pratchett, and his recent screenplays include Beowulf, Stardust and Coraline) certainly thinks so – in a recent interview he’s reported as saying that he’s avoiding any vampire characters in his forthcoming projects as vampires have become ‘overfarmed’. Be that as it may, we’re not about to junk our vampire-related stock here at Props n Frocks (too much at stake) and we can rise to the occasion if you want to be one of the Drac pack.
We feel that Vampire outfits and Werewolf costumes are going to be a big hit this Halloween and you can count (sorry about that) on Props n Frocks to have all the costumes and accessories you could need to create a wonderful Halloween fancy dress costume.
