Care must be taken not to cause offence when wearing a religious fancy dress costume as it can be sensitive subject. Most people take it in the spirit to what it is intended, but do keep in mind that not everyone will agree. Use common sense and common courtesy when ever possible, or be prepared to get people very upset with you when you do not. The theme 'Vicars & Tarts' is still a popular theme, with many stipulating that the normal roles be reversed, i.e. the man is the tart!
Please note: We have only noted down the religious fancy dress costumes that are available to hire or purchase. If a religion has been left out, it is because the costume is not widely available, and not for any other reason.

Nun
A nun is a very simple costume that is easy to wear. Very popular for hen parties and pregnant ladies. A nun costume can also be worn for 'Sound of Music' the sing-a-long show that tours the UK. Many variations are on the market from the traditional to the very sexy. Please note that the nun's headdress is called a 'Wimple' and the elastic (if any) goes to the back of the head and not under the chin.
