The first Superman film was released in 1978 and was played by Christopher Reeve. The costume has not changed much over the years. Superman wears a tight fitting blue jumpsuit with a large cape. In the earlier years a light grey jumpsuit with black underpants (worn over the trousers) and a cape are worn. In later versions, the character looks more sinister in a black jumpsuit, cowl hood, and a black scalloped hemmed cape.
