Hire Terms & Conditions

Mail Order Costume Hire Terms & Conditions

  1. It is assumed that customers have read, understood and agreed to the listed conditions of hire on booking a costume or costumes.
  2. YOU MUST BE 18 years OR OVER TO MAKE A BOOKING.
  3. All costumes remain the property of Props & Frocks Fancy Dress.
  4. Only Mastercard, Visa Credit Card or Visa Delta card are accepted as deposits.
  5. The named hirer has the sole responsibility for the costume until the costume is returned to Props & Frocks premises
  6. No refunds will be issued once a costume has been booked, this includes cancellation of the function, for whatever reason
  7. Any changes to a booking will be subject to a £10 administration fee.
  8. Props & Frocks cannot be held responsible for any costume that does not fit..
  9. If a costume has been booked and subsequently damaged by a third party before your hire date, we will offer a comparable replacement.
  10. Customers should check their costume thoroughly on the day of receipt and advise the shop of any damage, marks, or items missing. A message can be left on the answer phone. Any damage not reported by 7 p.m. on the day of collection, will be charged to the hirer.
  11. Customers wear Props & Frocks boots & shoes at their own risk and are hired as seen.
  12. Costumes must be returned on the day specified on the hire agreement, and returned within normal shop opening times. Failure to do so will result in a £4 per day surcharge.
  13. Customers must not wash costumes or tumble dry any wet item.
  14. Customers must not attach sticky labels or badges to any part of the costume.
  15. Customers must not pin, sew, glue or iron any costume that is hired.
  16. Part or all of the deposit will be forfeit or the cost or replacement charged if;
    A costume is returned beyond reasonable repair
    The costume is returned needing specialised cleaning
    The costume is returned with permanent damage, i.e. cigarette burns
    The costume is returned with one or more items missing
    Any modifications have been carried out on the costume
    The costume is returned with blood (or other body fluids)
    The costume is not returned to Props & Frocks for whatever reason
  17. Deposits or the cost of replacement will be deducted from the customer's credit/debit card (if applicable) if the costume is returned, as per condition 13,14,15,16.
  18. Original red hangers must be returned; failure to do so will result in a £1 charge per missing hanger.
  19. Costumes must be returned to Props & Frocks using a 'Proof of delivery' service i.e. the package must be signed for.

  20. Goods lost in transit back to Props & Frocks are the hirer's responsibility.

  5. The named hirer has the sole responsibility for the costume until the costume is returned to Props & Frocks premises
  6. No refunds will be issued once a costume has been booked, this includes cancellation of the function, for whatever reason

Corporate Hire Terms & Conditions

  1. It is assumed that customers have read, understood and agreed to the listed Terms & Conditions. Placing an order is considered acceptance of these conditions.
  2. All costumes remain the property of Props & Frocks Fancy Dress
  3. Although every care is taken to provide suitable costumes, Props & Frocks cannot be held responsible for a costume that does not fit. We can only provide costumes from the measurements we have been given. Please make sure that measurements are taken correctly.
  4. Customers wear Props & Frocks footwear at their own risk. Socks or tights must be worn.
  5. The named hirer has the sole responsibility for the costume until the costume (s) is returned to Props & Frocks premises
  6. Customers who do not return costumes (for whatever reason) will be prosecuted.
  7. No refunds will be issued once a costume has been booked. This includes cancellation of the function for whatever reason.
  8. If a costume has been booked and subsequently damaged by a 3rd party before your hire date, we will offer a comparable replacement.
  9. Customers must not wash costumes or tumble dry any wet item.
  10. Customers must not attach sticky labels or badges to any part of the costume.
  11. Customers must not adapt the costume in any form including sewing, gluing or ironing
  12. Money will be deducted from the deposit if one or more costumes are returned:
    1. Beyond reasonable repair
    2. With cigarette damage
    3. With one or more items missing
    4. Modifications have been carried out on the costume
    5. A costume is returned with blood (or other body fluids)
    6. A costume is not returned to Props & Frocks for whatever reason.
  13. On receiving costumes, please check the costumes through for any damage that you would like to report. Before the costumes leave the shop premises, they are checked by a member of our staff. Any damage that they have missed must be reported within 24 hours of receiving the costumes.
  14. All red hangers must be returned. A charge of £1.00 is made per non-returned hanger.
  15. Costumes must be returned on, or before the day specified on the hire agreement. A late charge will be applicable on late costumes.
  16. Payment in full must be made on booking. This can be made via a company credit/debit card or a company cheque. Please allow enough time for the cheque to clear before costumes can be sent.
    1. In the event of using Corporate Option 4, a £150.00 payment is made to start the list. Balance payment is taken on completion of the list. Please note: If the event is cancelled (for whatever reason) this £150.00 will be charged as a cancellation fee.
  17. A deposit payment of £500.00 is taken on despatch. This must be left on a credit / debit card. Please note: In the event of damage or replacement costs for a total of more than £500.00 Props & Frocks can take the full replacement costs from credit/debit card. No money will be deducted from the deposit without prior consent from yourselves.
