Are you an established shop?
Yes, Props & Frocks has been established in Essex since 1998. 8/10 of our new customers come from personal recommendation. There are over 3000 quality fancy dress costumes for hire and 1000's of accessories and wigs to buy. We are members of the British Costume Association.
Can we visit the shop?
Certainly, Props & Frocks is open for retail customers. If you have seen something particular on the website please contact us to check we have it on display in the shop. We are not able to display everything, so let us know what you want and we can make sure it is ready for when you arrive.

Can I hire a fancy dress costume on line?
We have a selection of our fancy dress costumes that are available to hire on this website. Our shop stocks over 3000 quality adult and children costumes, so it is impossible to show them all on this site.
We have tried to show a sample of our many themes and sizes. If you can't see what you are looking for or wish to know more about a particular costume (different sizes etc.) contact the shop either on 01245 327156 or by e-mail
We can't book hire costumes on line (yet!) We need to double check availability, so contact us and we can discuss your requirements. We cater for all sizes, so do not worry.
I am in charge of organizing our office party, can you help?
We have many corporate options available . We can take the strain from you. A fancy dress theme is a great way to celebrate as it encourages people to talk to one another, even if it is only to laugh.
I am looking to have a company mascot made, what do I need to do?
We manufacture bespoke mascots for clubs, schools, Childrens play centres and companies. We work from your own artwork or will produce a sketch for you to have a look at.

How soon can I get my costume?
We offer a FREE delivery to UK mainland for all orders. Orders will be delivered within 8 working days of despatch. Orders received before 3.45pm will be despatched the same day – we will contact you if there is any delay.
Please choose from one of our upgraded shipping methods if you require your item sooner. Upgraded shipping costs are not refunded as part of the Refund Policy. Please check to see our shipping options, including our guaranteed Next Day Service (UK Mainland only) – on all orders place before 3.45pm.
If you live in a remote area, it may not be possible for a next day service. 99% of orders arrive when they should arrive, but please, please, please leave enough time so that your costume or accessory arrives in time for your party or function. Call us if you need more information.
I ordered a costume and asked for a next day service, it is now 2 p.m. and it hasn't arrived?
Contact us immediately, we will chase the consignment for you. Do not leave it until after 4 p.m. as it doesn't give us a lot of time to try and find where the item is.
Will my personal information be safe?
We will never sell, rent or exchange your details with a third party. Your information is used to process your order and keep a history of your purchases with us. If you have registered for our fantastic newsletters, you will be sent an email (about once a month) with all party tips, fancy dress themes and special newsletter discounts) until you unsubscribe.
How safe is it to pay online?
Card payment on our site is 100% secure. Our online payments are taken through Barclay Bank PLC. All your information is encrypted and cannot be accessed by anyone.

I have seen a costume that I think my son will need for his school dress up day, what size will I need?
If you take your child's rough measurements (chest and waist) we will measure the costume for you and find the best size for him.
Can I have an item delivered to another address?
We can arrange delivery to another address (say a work address). We will need to take the card's registered address and security information as well as the delivery address. If you work for a large corporation, please give specific delivery instructions and advise your reception so that the package is not refused.
Can you deliver to an address outside of the UK?
Yes, carriage is charged to you at cost and we cannot guarantee the length of time it will take to reach you.
What forms of payment do you accept?
- Cash – Cash payments are only acceptable for customers who collect from the shop. Please do not send cash in the post.
- Cheque – Goods will be sent once the cheque has been cleared by our bank. Please allow enough time before your function in order for your goods to arrive on time
- Credit / Debit cards – 100% secure
What happens if the item I have ordered is out of stock?
We do carry large stocks. If an item is temporarily out of stock we will inform you (by your preferred contact method) when we are due to get more stock in. We can also offer you alternatives. If you do not wish to wait or have the alternative, we will refund you in full.
The item I ordered has arrived but is in different packaging than what I can see on the website.
We hold stock from various suppliers. The actual item will be the same but the packaging may differ.
