Today our costume theme is all about speed & transport: Aside from the fact that the
Apollo 11 astronauts took off on their historic voyage to the Moon today in 1969, Stirling Moss, a name synonymous with racing driving, won his first Formula One race, at the British Grand Prix, which was held at Aintree this day in 1955. Despite his legendary status as a motor-sport driver, Stirling never won the World Championship as Juan Fangio beat him to the title on four occasions. We hesitate to suggest a sport-orientated theme as the next few weeks will see more than enough of it, but Boy Racers and Fast Ladies suggests itself as something which gives scope for improvisation.
